What makes it feel like DayZ

Start with almost nothing. Loot gets better the deeper you go: the outskirts, the villages, Kamenka, the gas zone, the bunker.
Other players are the real danger. Full PvP, voice and chat. Trade, team up or take what they carry.
Survival you feel: bleeding, broken legs, blood loss, hunger and thirst, campfires to cook on and warm up by.
A world worth crossing: the coast and its towns, an old heartland of villages, a desert of canyons and ruins, a mountain fort.
Vehicles: drive jeeps, fly helicopters, and run for the supply drops everybody hears coming down.
The infected roam the towns and guard the best places.

You don't build bases in ZONA, but you can keep what you've found: put it in a stash case and bury it in the countryside with a shovel.
