A free DayZ alternative in your browser
DayZ is a paid download for PC and console. ZONA brings its loop (start with nothing, scavenge, meet strangers who may shoot first) to a browser tab, free. Here's honestly what it shares with DayZ and what it doesn't.

What ZONA shares with DayZ
- Loot tiers: the coast where you start holds no guns, the police stations and army places hold the most, and the best of all is down Bunker 17 and in the fort.
- The infected in the towns, hunting by sight and sound. How they hunt
- A body to look after: bleeding and bandages, broken legs and splints, blood and blood bags, hunger and thirst, campfires.
- A gas zone at the chemical works, where you need a mask from a police station.
- Your character is kept: gear and stashes stay between visits, and you can bury a stash case with a shovel.
- Vehicles: jeeps and a police car to drive, helicopters to fly, supply drops to fight over.
- Day and night, and a town called Kamenka, for those who know.

What it doesn't have
- A map the size of Chernarus. ZONA's is smaller, so you meet people sooner.
- Base building. You keep things in stashes, not in walls you build.
- A price. It's free, and it runs on whatever your browser runs on.
Questions
Is ZONA a good DayZ alternative?
If you want DayZ's loop without buying or downloading anything, yes. Its map is smaller than Chernarus and it has no base building.
Does it keep my character?
Yes: your character, gear and stashes stay between visits, and closing the tab mid-fight does not take you out of danger.
Is it free?
Yes, free in your browser, with nothing to download.
